Applying for an EHIC


Pensioners and beneficiaries

You will automatically receive the EHIC from the CAK as soon as you are registered with us. Have you not received an EHIC 6 weeks after the start date of your health insurance? Call or send us a message via the online contact form.

Tip

Do you have co-insured family members? They will also automatically receive their own EHIC. However, this may take a little longer because we first have to wait for the confirmation of the health insurer in your country of residence. They must first agree to the co-insurance.

Valid until

The EHIC is always valid until the end of the calendar year. The end date is on the card. In October you will automatically receive the EHIC for the following year.

Family members of employees

Do you work in the Netherlands, but do you live abroad with your family? And are your family members co-insured through the CAK? Then you can apply for an EHIC for your family members via the online application form. You will receive the EHIC by post within 3 weeks.

Please note: You can only apply for an EHIC after the start date of the co-insurance.
