France
Are you planning to emigrate to France or are you already living there? And will you be covered by health insurance through the CAK? This page provides information about your health insurance in France.
Health insurer/agency
After registering with the CAK, you will receive an S1 form. Submit this form to a regional office of the CPAM (Caisse Primaire d'Assurances Maladie). After registration you will receive a Carte Vitale from CPAM.
Reimbursements
In France
- Basic package: includes GP, hospital, and medication.
- If you find the reimbursements too low, you can take out supplementary insurance (mutuelle) with the CPAM.
- More information on reimbursements: Ameli, de online dienst van de CPAM.
In the Netherlands
- Basic package: includes GP, hospital, and medication; see the Zilveren Kruis website.
- No personal contribution or deductible.
- On presentation of the EHIC from the CAK.
In another treaty country
- Medically necessary care (care that cannot wait until you return home).
- You must present your EHIC from the CAK.
- Tip: always take out travel or supplementary insurance as well.
What do you pay?
- A healthcare contribution to the CAK . Calculate your treaty contribution with the CAK - Healthcare Contribution Calculator (in Dutch). We deduct this contribution monthly from your pension(s) or benefits.
- Personal contribution for certain medical care in France.
- Supplementary insurance (hospitalization insurance) is at your own expense.
Tip
- Apply for healthcare benefits from the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.
- Are you a taxpayer in your country of residence? In some countries, you can deduct your healthcare contribution. Contact the tax authorities in your country of residence to discuss the options.
We compile this information with care. However, the rules are complex and change from time to time. Therefore, always check with the authorities in Germany to find out which rules apply to you.
Details
Your family members (partner, children) without their own income who live in France are eligible for co-insurance. However, the CPAM must approve this.
