Care and reimbursement in your country of residence

If you have health insurance through the CAK, you are insured for healthcare costs in the country where you live. What you are refunded for, and how much, depends on the rules in the country where you live. You can request information about this from the health insurer in your country of residence.

Good to know

  • You use the health insurance card issued by the health insurer in your country of residence.
  • You are insured for all basic care, according to the rules in your country of residence.
  • You pay a healthcare contribution for this insurance. We will deduct this from your pension(s) or benefit.
  • It is your decision as to whether to pay a personal contribution, bear your own risk or take out supplementary insurance – and this is paid to the health insurer in your country of residence.
  • Claims should be submitted to the health insurer in your country of residence.

Tip

Are your family members co-insured through the CAK? Then the same rules apply to them.
